After a decade of being a fan for awhile in the music and entertainment business I have learned quite a number of things here in the Canadian scene.
What's that you may ask?
Well a number of things, it includes your popularity in the States if you get lucky will get you places ie move out of Canada and then come back home, post your stuff online and you may get some kind of recognition from it to be posted WORLDWIDE!, Joining Twitter is a must because celebrities do post stuff and read your post (but don't beg them to follow you because Believe me i've tried and it depends all up to them if they want to follow you or not), Join their fan bases because 90% they sometimes will know the artist through the sites that promote them. But whatever you do don't get too stalkerish or their security may just handle you out, be kind and help out your follow fans out if you get a advantage because we are all try to meet the same celebrity.
I mean I used to be real nervous and real scared to meet my favorite celebs and personalities, but not as much now. I have met quite a bit and talked to a few now i sometimes don't know what to say anymore to them. I question myself and ask myself say "Hello" Sir or Miss, may I get a autograph from you I am super excited to meet you because I am a super fan.
I am in definition as a fan who was nervous on meeting popular people to having a partial confidence to try to get a autograph or pics from them.
I am now using my experience when I see other fans get over excited to meet to their favorite stars and if I get the advantage to give it to them because I see the joy, excitement and tears in their eyes. I never had someone helped me out, so I feel real happy and overjoyed to help fellow fans out when their parents don't know what to do.
I think what scares some fans is that we get categorized as crazy people because of our habit of some of us staying at their hotels just to see them. I mean we all don't do that, some of us need to pay our bills and as much as we would like to do that, there is a lot of time constraints and payments we average class got to deal with.
After being a long time fan of entertainers, I have struggled to get my payments right and have to skip out on some of my favorite events, sacrifices I have to make to go to them. It has been hard, but the ones I do go to are real satisfying to attend to when I can. I feel when I don't go I miss out, in the events I don't attend I feel real good, but due to my sickness the last few days I haven't been much of a fan.
It has been super hard in the last few months to be part of the scene. I want so much to be seen to go to places for recognition and hopefully be noticed by the art you love but cannot be more than recognition to be paid for it. I have struggled for years and still until this day tend to struggle. I am behind the scenes to work super hard with no kind of education for promotions and special events degree. I am mostly learning it through my street smart ideas and thoughts. I try my hardest though and it doesn't get unnoticed. The recognition that I built myself around is AMAZING. I do love what I do and now that I think I have reached a point, I really need a little bit of money to get by because I ain't getting any younger by the moment. I struggle with my concept in trying to get through with these chances I have taken to get through with what I have faced. It's never easy being a fan of the industry just being on some kind of being a familiar person but with no pay.
It's been years to make my path in the industry because I have been trying to make something out of it and I don't quite fit into any category of the bloggers world because I represent a lot of categories, or trying to learn to get into. Most people affiliate me with the music industry or the poetry/lyricism world, but I have learned now to go beyond into the sci-fi world. I try to read a lot of other things. I know I haven't been posting very often as much as I can. I hope to do more so that people can read more about what I am.
As a fan in the industry for a long time I have learned that most fan bases are family and not just fan bases. Most people think that fans are just people that know each other randomly but to tell you the truth, someone knows someone personally or gets connected like a family member. If one person praises you it is like you become a society of family or relatives by the connection you make from one person to another. It becomes a small world and community. Every fan base is very intertwined with each other and it isn't real small or very stalkerish like most people think, but a big society of many people affiliated with many walks of life, just like family members you know each other.
